U.S. Resumes Surveillance Flights Over Nigeria’s North-East After Air Strikes on ISIS Hideouts

The United States has resumed intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations over Nigeria’s north-east region, with a focus on militant activities in the Sambisa Forest.

The renewed surveillance follows Thursday night’s air strikes that reportedly targeted ISIS-linked militants operating within the forest. Security sources indicate that the ISR missions are aimed at gathering real-time intelligence to track militant movements and assess the impact of the recent air operations.

Sambisa Forest has long served as a stronghold for extremist groups in the region, and increased aerial monitoring is expected to support ongoing counterterrorism efforts and enhance regional security coordination.

Authorities have not released further details on the scope or duration of the surveillance operations.
