Tax laws: We've no business with your transfer narrations, FG tells Nigerians

Tax laws: We've no business with your transfer narrations, FG tells Nigerians FG: ‘We’ve No Business With Your Transfer Narrations’ The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that under the newly-enacted tax laws, authorities will not monitor or debit personal bank accounts based on transfer narrations or descriptions you use when sending money. This clarification was given to address public concerns and rumours circulating around the new tax regime starting January 2026.  Key points: No government agency will track or make tax deductions simply because of the wording you put in a transfer narration.   Nigerians are expected to self-declare their income at the end of the year when filing taxes rather than being taxed automatically via banking data.   Some members of the House of Representatives have called for a suspension of implementation to allow for further review and clarification. NAFDAC Warns Nigerians Against Fake Kiss Condoms in Markets, Flags Serious Public Health Risks

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert (No. 042/2025) warning Nigerians about the widespread circulation and sale of counterfeit “Kiss” brand condoms in major markets across the country.

According to the regulatory agency, fake Kiss condoms have been discovered in several popular markets, including Onitsha Market, Idumota Market, Trade Fair Market, and various markets in Kano, Abuja, Uyo, Gombe, and Enugu.

Kiss condoms—a brand of male latex condoms widely used for preventing unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, gonorrhea, and syphilis—are being imitated by counterfeiters whose products do not meet quality and regulatory standards.

In its alert, NAFDAC noted differences between genuine and fake products. Authentic Kiss condoms are generally larger, more lubricated, and have a larger teat end, while counterfeit versions tend to be thinner, less lubricated, and poorly finished.

The agency emphasized that the use of fake condoms poses grave health risks because these products may break easily, provide ineffective protection, and expose users to infections, allergic reactions, and unintended pregnancies.

NAFDAC urged consumers to be vigilant by purchasing only genuine, quality-assured condoms from approved and licensed suppliers and to report any suspicious products to the agency.

This warning highlights ongoing concerns in Nigeria over counterfeit and substandard health products, which can undermine public trust and endanger lives if not detected and removed from the market.
